TeleTherapy for Adults in North Carolina
Your story is uniquely your own.
Your therapy should be too.
Specialized Trauma, PTSD & C-PTSD Treatment
You've been carrying something heavy for a long time. You've tried to push it down, stay busy, work through it on your own, or simply keep moving because stopping felt too risky. You've gotten good at surviving. At holding it together. At showing up for everything and everyone while quietly struggling beneath the surface.
But something keeps pulling you back. Into the memories, the reactions, the feelings you can't quite explain to the people around you. No matter how hard you try to outrun it or attempt to avoid it, it finds its way back.
You don't have to keep white-knuckling it alone. There is another way forward — and it starts here.
I'm Dr. Cierra Listermann, a licensed psychologist specializing in trauma and PTSD treatment— though please, call me Cierra.
If something in those words above stopped you, even for a moment, I want you to know that wasn't an accident. I wrote them for you. The person who has been carrying something heavy and quietly wondering if it's finally time to put some of it down.
I've had the privilege of walking alongside some of the most courageous people I've ever met. I have worked with survivors of trauma who came to me exhausted, guarded, and unsure if anything could really help. I've watched them heal and have the opportunity to come back to themselves in a genuine and meaningful way.
That is what I'm here to do for you.
My practice is built differently by design. At Carolina Trauma Recovery, I offer 90-minute extended therapy sessions. A depth of care that goes beyond what most therapy practices provide, as I believe that healing from trauma requires adequate time, intentional space, and cannot be rushed. You deserve more than a session that ends just when things are getting somewhere.
For those ready for a more focused path, I also offer Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Intensives that move through the full treatment process in weeks rather than months. Whatever pace is right for you, there is a way forward here.
If you've landed on this page, something in you is already reaching toward something better. I'd be honored to help you get there.
Walk with me for a moment.
Something happened to you.
It could have been long ago or more recently. One specific event, or many. Unfolding over years in ways that felt impossible to name. You've done everything you could to keep going: stayed busy, stayed quiet, stayed strong. But something keeps surfacing. And no matter how hard you push it down, it finds its way back.
Symptom Check— Does any of this sound familiar?
Overwhelming emotions (anxiety, anger, sadness, etc.) that feel impossible to control
Triggers, flashbacks, or nightmares that disrupt your daily life
Guilt, shame, or self-blame that you can't seem to shake
Feeling unsafe in your body or disconnected from yourself
A fractured sense of trust in others and within yourself
Low self-worth, or a lost sense of who you are
Isolation, relationship strain, or pulling away from people you love
Feelings of numbness, or the opposite, being perpetually on edge
A deep need to make sense of what happened, but not knowing where to start
If any of this resonates — I'm here, and I can help.
I believe every person who has experienced trauma deserves a space to tell their story fully, without judgment, and without comparison. There is no hierarchy of suffering here.
Your experiences matter.
Your pain is valid.
You are worthy of healing.

Ready to Take the First Step?
Therapy intentionally designed to give you room to breathe.
Trauma often teaches you to shrink yourself, to rush through your feelings, minimize your experiences, or believe you need to "hold it together."
I believe that therapy shouldn't reinforce any that.
When you work with me, you'll find a curated space where you don't have to rush to fit your story into a 50-minute appointment or worry about saying the "right" thing. We slow down. We make sense of what happened. We stay with the moments that deserve more attention and care instead of watching the clock.
True healing isn't about getting through your story as quickly as possible. It's about finally having enough space to understand it.
That's why my practice is intentionally built around 90-minute extended therapy sessions and Cognitive Processing Therapy Intensives that offer personalized treatment that adapts to your needs—not the other way around.
The Process
-
The first step is to schedule a complimentary, confidential 20-minute consultation call. We'll get to know each other, talk through what you're navigating, and explore whether we'd be a good fit to work together. No pressure, no commitment.
-
Research shows that the therapeutic relationship matters more than any treatment technique or modality for successful therapy outcomes, which is why I prioritize it. During the consultation call, we'll make sure my approach, areas of specialty, and availability align with what you need. If I'm not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is.
-
Once we've connected and confirmed we're a good match, we'll schedule your 90-minute intake session and begin therapy services. We will start with weekly sessions and adjust the cadence from there as your progress unfolds. If you are interested in completing a Cognitive Processing Therapy Intensive, we will select which package option you prefer and schedule the intake session to get started.
